Eyelid coloboma (eyelid agenesis)

Eyelid surgery involves cases that are not always that straightforward.  “Domino” is not a recent case but illustrates the complexity of some (rarer) conditions.    He came in with eyelid defects, basically missing eyelid tissue from birth (congenital defects, eyelid agenesis).  In these cases you can “repair” or “fill” the defects by rotating eyelid tissue and use skin from other parts of the body  (in this case the lip).

Please see text for a full description of Domino’s condition and treatment.
